Top 5 Music Venues
There are so many music venues in NYC and I've found that going to check out different styles brings you to a lot of unique venues.
🙌 My Top 5 🙌
1. Nublu 151: If you're into that fusion of R&B, Hip-Hop, Progressive Jazz....this is your spot. Aside from the fantastic lineup of music, you walk into this venue and feel as if you've entered a night club. Why don't more music venues have a vibe like this?! Artists such as Louis Cole, Robert Glasper, and Nate Smith have performed here.
2. The Jazz Standard: If you like BBQ and a room that sounds great, this is the place to go. What I love most about this venue is that they have a wide variety of jazz ranging from artists such as Gretchen Parlato to Chris Potter. A lot of modern jazz is showcased here but there are also nights with straight ahead jazz.
3. Mezzrow: If you're into piano trios or vocalists, this is my favorite spot to hear the best. It's super intimate and that front room makes you feel like you're sitting in a living room. You can practically touch the musicians! haha but DON'T DO THAT. Artists such as Aaron Parks, Cyrille Aimee, and Becca Stevens have performed here.
4. Rough Trade: This is not just a music venue...it's a record store!!! I've seen artists such as Anomalie & Donny McCaslin play at this venue. It's super diverse from Electronic, Lo-fi Hip Hop vibes to Alternative Rock. Love LOVE this spot.
5. (le) Poisson Rouge: Another diverse music venue. I've seen Good Old War & Anthony Green play a gig here and loved the vibe. It's a larger venue but not SUPER big where you cant be up close to the band. Usually if I go see Anthony Green with Circa Survive, he plays at concert halls and I'm struggling to see the band haha. They also can convert this venue into a sitting room with tables and chairs, depending on the artist.
